Opening Ceremonies

For the herald dispatch article Click Here - more photos

The opening ceremonies were at Marshall Univesity at the Joan C. Edwards Stadium.

Before the ceremony there was music, a crossbar contest and a mascots 5v5 game (the Marshall mascot was red carded and Little Caesar scored twice)..

One player from every team was chosen to take part in the crossbar challenge - top five in every age group got awards. Liisi represented the Wildcats.

The ceremonies got underway with sky divers from the 82nd Airborne landing in the stadium. Once the speeches and National Anthem were done, the players marched on to the field Olympic style.

The athletes from all 15 state associations marched onto the field in the parade of states. The Alleycats girls carried in the Eastern New York banner.

The lighting of the torch by the 1997 Boys Region 1 Champions from West Virginia signaled the official opening of the games.

The girls are ready to go - First game is Friday at 8AM. Good luck!!
The local paper will have stories and photos online herald-dispatch.com
I will be giving updates during the game - if I can get the technology to work.

Working out the cobwebs

The girls are hard at work at practice first thing this morning at the Friends of Cole fields. It's a cool overcast morning and the girls are excited to be playing. The last of the players will be arriving this afternoon.
